The process

We can offer low prices for our services by streamlining the process of tracking and mixing, by owning all of the gear, and by operating in a low-cost location.

The traditional recording processes have been either recording in large spaces with separate isolation rooms or to record each instrument separately. Recording in large studios can cost quite a bit as they need to cover the cost overhead for climate control and electricity. Recording instruments separately can be time consuming and costly, while the result can sometimes feel less than cohesive.

Our process is to capture the dry Direct Input (DI) signals directly from each guitar/bass and wet DI signals from pedals and effects during the performance of the band as a whole. These are captured as recorded tracks and are used as sources for amplifier/cabinet modelling hardware. The amp/cab models are used as the source for headphone mixes so that the players hear themselves through their headphones as if they are playing through their amplifier and speaker cabinet.

This process allows the majority of the musicians to perform together, maintaining a groove as well as greatly reducing tracking time, usually from days down to a few hours for well-rehearsed musicians. The DI tracks are then played through real amplifiers (re-amping) and recorded. This process allows real amps to be used, but offers perfect isolation from other instruments for clean mixing.
